Rock Climbing Courses
CastleRock Adventure Rock Climbing Courses are designed for the absolute beginner or for those that have been climbing indoors and are unsure of the safety skills required for climbing on real rock.

The courses take you through a gradual progression and will provide you with the necessary skills to be able to climb safely at any crag.

Courses are run over a weekend. Accommodation is included in the price with breakfast and dinner provided.

A minimum of four people are required for a course to run.

Rock Climbing Courses

Level 1 Introduction to Top Rope Climbing

Are you climbing indoors and want to venture out onto real rock? Or, have you never climbed before and want to give it a go? This is the course for you!

Course covers: Selection and use of equipment, how to tie knots, bouldering, belaying using a range of devices, communication at the rock face, climbing techniques. At the end of the weekend you will be able to top rope at corded sites.

Course includes: Accommodation, breakfasts and dinner and equipment hire for the programme.

Level 2 Construct and Climb on Top Rope Systems
This weekend is a continuation of Level 1 and focuses on setting up top rope systems and abseiling skills.

Course covers: Selection and safe use of equipment for top rope systems and abseiling, choosing anchors and setting up top rope systems, self protected abseiling skills, climbing techniques. At the end of the weekend you will be able to set up and climb on your own top rope system.

Course includes: Accommodation, breakfasts and dinner and equipment hire for the programme.

Level 3 Lead Climbing on Bolts (sport climbing)
This weekend is all about leading on bolts. It will give you the necessary skills to keep yourself safe whilst being on the sharp end of the rope.

Course covers: Selection and safe use of quickdraws, spotting and belaying, lead climbing on bolts, setting up a top rope after a lead climb, climbing calls, lowering off, dealing with emergencies. At the end of this weekend you will be able to safely lead on bolts.

Course includes: Accommodation, breakfasts and dinner and equipment hire for the programme.

Course Fees: $300 including gst.
